Merano

Merano is surrounded by mountains (1,500–3,335 m) and lies on the valley floor at the entrance to four major valleys: Val Venosta, Val Passiria, the Adige Valley and Val d'Ultimo.
Crossed by the Passirio stream, which flows into the Adige, the town lies at the foot of the Texel Group (up to 3,480 m above sea level, on the Austrian border) and the Salten plateau (up to 2,800 m). To the south, Merano is 30 km from the provincial capital, Bolzano, linked by a four-lane expressway known as the "MeBo" and by rail. To the west begins Val Venosta, served by the Venosta Valley railway; Val d'Ultimo lies to the south-west and Val Passiria to the north-east.

Thanks to its mild climate and its Thermal Baths, it has always been a place of relaxation and health.
